Run - Indoor & Footstrike Trainer

Indoor Runs are perfect for those days when the weather has turned and the run needs to be completed on a treadmill, a runner can still benefit from NURVV Run's world-leading accuracy and unique metrics.

To go for an Indoor run, make sure the trackers are on and connected to the NURVV Run insole and the app. From the Run Hub, tap Indoor Run. Once the trackers are configured, the app will indicate that you are ready to run. Tap RUN and a countdown will begin.

When running indoors, the app displays live Pace, Cadence, Split, and Footstrike metrics.

You can pause/resume your run using the controls at the bottom of the screen. When a run is paused, you can end it by pushing and holding the Stop button.

Footstrike Trainer

Footstrike Trainer is available as part of a NURVV Indoor Run session. As you run, Footstrike Trainer provides real-time visualization of your footstrike on both the left and right foot – so you can see exactly how your feet land each and every step.

This data lets you make the connection between how your foot landing feels and the type of footstrike you’re using – so you’ll know how a forefoot landing feels compared to rearfoot, for example. You can also see if your footstrike is the same on the left and right foot or whether there’s a mismatch. A mismatch could suggest imbalances higher up the chain and maybe an indicator of injury risk.

Using Footstrike Trainer

Footstrike Trainer is invaluable for correctly identifying your individual footstrike pattern, and it’s also a key tool if you want to make any modifications or transition your footstrike.

Designed to be viewed in real-time, with your mobile device placed on the treadmill, Footstrike Trainer can help you follow a footstrike retraining program. If you want to transition from rear to midfoot striking, for example, you can identify how that midfoot landing feels and then run short intervals on the treadmill using your new footstrike. Gradually building up the length of these intervals over time will help train your motor patterns, so the new footstrike becomes habitual

Footstrike Trainer gives you feedback on your footstrike in three different ways:

  • The foot graphics will light green in the foot's corresponding regions to indicate forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot strikes as they happen.
  • The white dot on each foot shows the most common footstrike type over a rolling 10-second window.
  • The percentages below the foot graphics indicate the most common footstrike type and the share of all footstrikes it accounts for over a rolling 10-second window.

Want to see how your footstrike pattern translates to your outdoor runs? You can do this using NURVV’s Footstrike Profile, available via the Run Summary.

To access Footstrike Trainer, simply begin an Indoor Run from the Run Hub and swipe the screen to the right.

Following an Indoor Run, you can access all of the usual metrics via the Run Summary (except for a map).
